(File> Word Options>Display>Check/Uncheck Show These Formatting Marks ) We may show/hide the non-printing character. From a new email message, select File > Options > Mail > Editor Options > Display. In the Always Show These Formatting Marks On the Screen section, select the characters you want Word to display. Click Display at the left side of the dialog box. You can customize which formatting marks are shown in Outlook by opening a new email message. You can display these special characters, which Word refers to as nonprinting characters, by following these steps: Display the Word Options dialog box. ![]() In tables you will see one additional character, the universal monetary symbol (ยค), which displays variously at various point sizes and magnifications but upon close inspection is seen to be a circle with four lines radiating from the corners Turn specific formatting marks on or off. More accurately control the look of your document and what it contains. You can quickly tell, for instance, when you have inserted two spaces between words or added an extra carriage return. As far as I know, the non printing character is much easier to understand spacing when the characters are displayed. ![]()
